Wilton Jordan was seen in downtown Asheville May 3rd, 2022 attending a leftist organized event in support of abortion access. Jordan was attempting to blend in and participate in the march. Unfortunately he was nearly successful. Many in attendance were either unaware of or unconcerned with his dangerous, fascist affiliated background. We believe people need to be informed about Jordan’s recent history as he makes more frequent attempts to enter leftist spaces.
Current photo of Wilton Jordan (alias NABBUU)Starting in late 2016 / early 2017, Wilton Jordan was an active and organizing member of the Proud Boys. He was the founding member of the local ‘NC PB Mountain Chapter’, which hosted it’s first official rally in the spring/summer of 2017. During his time with the far-right, white supremacist, misogynist, and transphobic group the Proud Boys, Jordan provided information about locals he believed to be affiliated with leftist movements to fellow white supremacists. He was credited, among his peers, as being a major contributor to the far right’s doxxing campaign of Asheville locals. This campaign focused not just on activists but also anyone loosely associated with them. The campaign brutally targeted trans and queer community members, using dead names, rampant transphobia and other forms of verbal violence. Jordan’s actions have left members of our community vulnerable to continued threat, since their information is available online and cannot be removed. Ongoing hate mail, home visits, threatening phone calls, and the targeting of family members of activists are just a few examples of the repercussions of his actions.

IN ADDITION to his reckless dissemination of personal information of locals, Jordan has a history of sexual harassment and predatory behavior. In 2015 he was overheard by local bar staff bragging about drugging and sexually assaulting women. In 2021 he was forcibly removed from a local venue for behaving aggressively towards underage women.
Jordan has never addressed the sexual violence accusations against him (accusations that have now circulated for years). The absence of transparency or accountability around this issue is not an isolated occurrence. What Jordan has put forth regarding his affiliation with the Proud Boys in a recent “apology” is rife with inconsistencies. Jordan claims to have been out of the Proud Boys for six years. But Jordan was seen trying to enter a local bar with other Proud Boys in July of 2018 and only publicly renounced his membership on social media in 2019. Alongside these reliable indicators for his affiliation, it is important to highlight that the Proud Boys weren’t actually created until 2016, which as of this writing is 6 years ago.

These factual discrepancies, his hollow apology, and the sheer arrogance of attending an event organized by the community he has harmed affirms his position as a bad actor and a high threat to our community.
Jordan claims he wants a chance to be part of left organizing spaces and has offered an apology. While this is a step in the right direction, an apology alone cannot repair the damage done, the trust that was broken, or the lives severely impacted. Jordan hasn’t (and can’t) remove the personal information still plastered across white supremacist databases. The people he directly harmed have confirmed that they will never feel safe or comfortable in his presence.
One is not allowed to simply turn around and assume consensual participation in the same community they betrayed. Jordan cannot just decide to “join in” on an action organized around principled human rights alongside those whose lives have been forever changed because of conscious decisions he made. While possibilities for addressing change and accountability for formerly affiliated fascists who “flip” may exist, Jordan’s unreliable accounts of recent history accompanied by his unwelcome presence in leftist spaces is a clear indication of his inauthentic trajectory. Jordan has been an informant for white supremacist groups and there is nothing to indicate that recent incursions into left spaces are anything other than an attempt to gather additional information about activists he already has a history of harming. We will not make room for Wilton Jordan and do not support his presence in our communal spaces.
